Doon Valley Museum
The Doon Valley Museum is situated just off The Square in Cathcartston. The building, originally four cottages, was built in 1744 to house Weavers and their families.
A century later as Mining took hold in the valley, the cottages were occupied by Miners and their families. These four cottages now house The Museum.
The Museum has been recently refurbished to provide an improved, bright and modern space. Our permanent exhibition features objects and illustrations representing aspects of the social and industrial history of the Doon Valley.
We have a varying programme of exhibitions that change every 3 months.
In addition to the exhibitions The Museum has a large collection of old photographs and maps that can be used by local and family history researchers. We are keen to get local people involved in planning and producing future exhibitions. If you would like to get involved please call Elaine on 01292 550633
We welcome all visitors, groups and individuals to The Museum. We are open Thursday – Saturday 11am to 5pm. Admission is free and we have wheelchair access. For enquiries and/or further information please call Elaine on 01292 550633.
